The best Food Blog recipe has the following ingredients:
- Great pictures, as food is not always so glamorous as you can see here on Buzzfeed, making a great arrangement with colours, textures, ingredients that not only look good aesthetically but also appetising is a real challenge.
- Easy recipes, with easy to find ingredients that won’t break your bank account.
- Amazing ideas and combinations that you have never thought of before, with ingredients you already know you love, and possibly some fancy sounding names.
David Frankiel’s Green Kitchen Stories blog is among my favourites, and covers all the points above. Pictures are beautiful (check), food looks appetising (check), recipes are easy to make (check), ingredients easy to find (check). Just flip through their Recipe Index and pick your not-so-guilty pleasure treats. And of course, don’t forget the @gkstories praise-worthy Instagram account. Here an amazing example menu to begin with that can become a dream come true with a little motivation and the newly-found GK Stories inspiration:
AND you might as well throw in two beautiful books for your kitchen or coffee table: The Green Kitchen and Green Kitchen Travels. I saw the latter in an apartment I was visiting once and got captured by the cover, the relaxed, nurturing colourful imagery inspiring major wanderlust. I got home and immediately Googled it, finally connecting in my head 3 small things that already had caught my interest without me knowing the blog: a Burberry Crumble recipe a friend shared with me this summer, the @gkstories Instagram account I was randomly following and the aforementioned book. Happy reading and happy eating!
